MyTown Wins Gold

During an award ceremony held last Friday in Paris, France, MyTown received the international Coliving Award in the category “Impact & Sustainability.”

MyTown was the only Philippine representative during the Coliving Awards and, together with Episode (Korea) and Hmlet (Singapore) one of the only winners from the Asian continent.

It was also a finalist in the “Community & User Experience” category.

The first international Coliving Awards were the highlight of the Co-liv Summit, which attracted more than 500 companies related to coliving from around the world.

As the coliving industry is shaping up and becoming a solid specialist asset class, the Coliving Awards focus on defining coliving as an institutionalized, scalable and thriving real estate model.

The Coliving Awards help winners not only gain well-deserved recognition, but also to contribute to the growth and development of coliving, a niche real estate asset class that has the potential to truly transform the future of living.

“We aim to give visibility to the brightest minds and inspire the next generation of real estate market players by identifying disruptive solutions and state-of-the-art concepts,” said the Coliving Awards organization.

According to the Coliving Awards jury, “for the coliving sector to evolve and mature, coliving players must embed impact and sustainability into the core of what they do.

MyTown is doing just that. MyTown is a project that is leading the way for the coliving sector in the Philippines, and aiming to have a positive impact along the way.”

Lead judge, Matt Lesniak explains that MyTown’s “buildings and operations are designed with environmental sustainability and climate resilience in mind” referring to MyTown’s use of solar panels, recycled water systems, ‘typhoon-proof’ structures, and buildings purposely developed in flood-free areas.

“Overall MyTown has clearly presented how it has a positive social, economic and environmental impact on its residents, surrounding neighborhoods and at a wider city level,” Mr. Lesniak further explains.

“We are honored to have successfully represented the Philippines as a place where real estate innovation can sprout and thrive. In an age where impact and sustainability are increasingly important, we’re excited to be a blueprint for coliving players around the world and a positive force to young professionals, the real estate asset class, and the environment,” said Jelmer David Ikink, Group Director at Philippines Urban Living Solutions (“PULS”), owner of the MyTown brand.

“We’d like to thank the entire MyTown family, our supporters, and of course our Townees, in making this possible. The last year has been a difficult one for young professionals, and this award motivates us to continue to offer impact to our tenants in everything we do,” Reigine Banaag, Head of Marketing at PULS.

MyTown, the co-living brand owned by Philippines Urban Living Solutions with SM Investments Corporation as majority shareholder, is the largest and most prominent co-living brand in the Philippines with 18 modern and luxurious coliving properties located all within 5 minutes walking distance from Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and Makati CBD.

It was awarded Best Co-Living Space in 2019 by Lamudi and Best Impact & Sustainability Coliving Operator at the 2021 international Coliving Awards.
